    Ocean View Community Garden Opening

    A lottery will be drawn at 12:00 pm., Saturday to assign a dozen plots of Ocean View Community Garden to members of the community. Lottery tickets will be distributed at 11:00 am at the garden (900 Buchanan Street, behind the Tennis Courts and Teen Center).

    Talk on Wildlife Photography

    Award-winning wildlife photographer Eleanor Briccetti will show her pictures and talk about her fascinating work.

    Poetry Writing Workshop

    7 pm – 9 pm, Wednesday, Jan.9, at the Albany Community Center

    This monthly workshop is about generating new writing. We focus on the places poems come from – memory, imagination, and the inspiration found in daily life. Fun, interactive exercises stimulate new poems and we share our in-class writing in a supportive atmosphere. Both beginning and experienced writers are welcome.

    Family Sing-along

    4:30pm – 5:00 pm, Wednesday, Jan.9, at the Albany Community Center

     Singing is led by Dale Allen Boland, who has been sharing the joy of community music-making with East Bay singers from newborn to 96 for over 15 years. The sing-along is free and for all ages.

    Breakfast Fundraiser at MacGregor High School

    8:30 am to 11:00 am, Saturday, Dec. 15, at MacGregor High School, 720 Jackson St.

    Homemade waffles, fruit and beverages will be served. Proceeds of the event will go to support the school’s culinary arts program and community outreach project.

    Sunday Music in the Lobby: Girl Talk Band

    1:30 pm Sunday, Dec. 2, at Albany Community Center

    Led by guitarist Valerie Bach, with cellist Laura Boytz, Girl Talk Band presents an unusual blend of trippy melodic world jazz – from tangos to choros to Latin blues to songs that tell stories. Definitely off the beaten track. This event is free and all ages are welcome. Light refreshments will be served.
