There was so much positive energy in the air. I am appreciative of all the cheerleaders who clapped and cheered for the participants as they made it around each loop. There is a definite satisfaction in participating and completing the events. Even though it seemed that most of the participants raced ahead of me, I was really happy that I completed the triathlon and set a mark for my personal best, a record for me to beat the next time around. While I'm sure she had her own agenda there is an important secondary effect of such interest; it is charming to people. She made them feel important and helped them value their accomplishment. So not only did she showcase our Triathlon but she boosted the experience for so many. She added to the value for people who came out to give it a try and spend valuable energy supporting the Albany Athletic boosters and our local sports programs.
